i'm a professional on facebook...

THE INTERNET IS MY BEST FRIEND:
Really, I am a professional on facebook. I never thought I'd have a job where I could get on facebook as much as I do. It's kind of embarassing, but hey...it's my job (kinda!) lol. So my second day of work was even more uneventful than the first. However I did make it somewhat productive. I skimmed through all of my notes for the websites we talked about at orientation. I then began scouring them for lesson plan ideas.

Like I said, I was given no guideline on what or how to teach so I was on my own. In the words of my co-teacher when I asked him for a textbook to guide me..."Maybe you use internet!" haha, Koreans and their term "maybe"...basically means no in their mind. He essentially told me "NO you may NOT have a book, you WILL use the internet!" He said it much nicer than that sounded, but I found it funny that he said maybe.

So the internet it is! I will also become a professional at stealing lesson plan ideas, or hell even whole lesson plans as well! I am lucky in that my friend who teaches out of the textbook says she hates having to use it, but is going to send me the basic outline of topics they use. That's basically all I need is an outline of topics so that I'm not jumping to random topics every week.

BECOMING A "REGISTERED ALIEN":
Thursday was a short day for me because at 3PM Mr. Bahn and I left school to go to the city hall in Gumi and apply for my "alien registration card." When we arrive there is of course a long wait due to the office only being open on Thursdays...what kind of business is that?! Anyways, I saw a few other people from orientation there sitting through the same process as I was. During our wait Mr. Bahn and I talked about Las Vegas (he went there recently), and I also taught him how to play "Angry Birds" on my I-touch lol. Luckily for me Mr. Bahn had all the correct paperwork in order and we simply turned in our forms when my number was called. Afterwards he dropped me off at my apartment and moved the useless computer out of my apartment so that I could have room for my laptop on my desk. I figured with two computers at school and a laptop, I didn't need an extra one at my apartment, lol. Korea is definately not lacking in computer supply.

Thursday night I decided I needed to stay in & try to get some sleep. Oh yea, by the way, I rode the PINK school bus to school that morning. :) Of course alot of my students ride the bus, so I got plenty of stares and nobody sat next to me the first day lol. I love riding the bus for the fact that I get to "nap" on the 30-40 minute ride to school. Bad thing is that I have to wake up by 6:15 to get ready and be out my door by 6:55 in order to walk/run to the bus stop & board the bus at exactly 7:03AM. This doesn't work out too well when I am by nature a "night owl" and don't fall asleep until about midnight at the earliest. Plus my first class isn't until 8:20AM! Oh well, atleast my apartment location is better than some people who live walking distance from their schools and get to sleep in. I'd rather be closer to the fun things, haha!

XOXO,
Amanda
